Job Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist to work in a Community Learning Disability Service in the Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale area of North Yorkshire, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Based at Eastfield Clinic in Scarborough, with good public transport links to bus, road and rail, you will be working within a friendly, small and supportive multi-disciplinary team, primarily supporting the practitioner Psychologist. The team is values lead and passionate about delivering the highest standard of care to our local people who live with a Learning Disability and an associated health need.
You will also have opportunity to work closely with other team members and in coproduction with service users and carers.
Main duties of the job
To work alongside clients, families, support workers and professionals to provide a psychologically based understanding of client’s needs.
To provide a range of assessments and interventions for people with learning disabilities and their families/carers. This will include assisting in the delivery of Dementia and Eligibility Pathways for people with Learning Disabilities in the locality as well as direct, indirect and group work.
To work across a variety of settings, including residential and day services and close working with the multi-disciplinary team.
To support psychological provision in the locality, for example, through the maintenance and updating of the psychology referrals database.
To support the MDT through indirect working including involvement in case discussions, team formulations and reflective practice spaces.
Assisting the co-ordination and running of training sessions to increase the knowledge and skills of the appropriate stakeholders and co-production of future training packages/workshops
To assist with research and evaluation of the local service.
You will receive regular clinical supervision from a Practitioner Psychologist
Due to the nature of the role and the geographical area it would be desirable for the post holder to have a Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
