This is a newly created post within the Planned, Surgical and Children’s Care Directorate. The post holder will lead and influence the improvement of administrative and operational processes across services within the Directorate by driving the development, embedding and optimisation of efficient ways of working. Working closely with Service Managers, General Managers and other key stakeholders, the post holder will lead service improvement, promote consistency of practice and support delivery against key performance objectives.

The role requires a high level of autonomy, with the ability to work independently while demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and personal accountability in managing competing priorities, workloads and deadlines. The post holder will lead by example, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, championing best practice and working collaboratively with colleagues to identify opportunities to enhance administrative processes, improve efficiency and support the delivery of high-quality services.

Main duties of the job

A strong understanding of operational performance, service delivery and the vital role of effective administrative support in delivering high-quality patient care is essential. The post holder will work closely with operational and clinical colleagues to monitor performance, support the effective day-to-day running of services, respond to operational challenges and contribute to the achievement of Directorate objectives. The role requires the ability to analyse information, prioritise workload effectively and support the delivery of safe, efficient and responsive services.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of working within healthcare in primary or secondary care
  • Evidence of management studies through short courses or postgraduate training.
  • Proven managerial and leadership experience within the NHS.

Desirable

  • Experience of developing new services.
  • Ability to identify, develop, nurture and promote innovative approaches to service development.
  • Well-developed political awareness, influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
