An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 4 Associate Practitioner to work within Brent Community Mental Health. Based in the London Borough of Brent, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in a challenging and diverse role. You will be joining an experienced and friendly multi-disciplinary team in a supportive working environment and be committed to providing a high quality of service to our population.

Main duties of the job
To be considered for this post you will need to have a positive, hopeful and can do attitude. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to work under pressure. You will have knowledge and experience of caring for people with mental illness and be passionate about mental well-being.
The post holder will be expected to work as a member of the multidisciplinary Locality Teams with a focus on enablement and out-reach work to support service users towards their recovery journey. The role will be key in supporting people with emerging and long term mental health conditions with regards to mental and physical health outcomes, social care and social inclusion.

Qualifications
Essential
- To have completed Secondary Education, with pass in GCSE English (A * – C) / National Certificate in Literacy / ESOL Level 2 or equivalent.
Desirable
- Any qualification/diploma related to health/social care/housing support/Psychology
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working as part of a team with people with acute / severe and enduring mental illness.
- To have had experience in working unsupervised, and in prioritising a workload.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a support worker/associate practitioner/healthcare assistant
- Previous experience of co-ordinating aspects of care for people with acute / severe and enduring mental illness.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Willingness to undertake further training as required.
- A working knowledge of mental illness/mental health.
- Well developed verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use initiative, and to remain calm and controlled when under pressure
- Demonstrate a non-judgemental approach to people
- Ability to treat service users with respect and dignity at all times adopting a culturally sensitive, holistic and patient-centred approach
- Demonstrate some understanding of care planning and risk assessment.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983.
