Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a clinical nurse specialist to join a team of dynamic rheumatologists and specialist nurses at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated nurse who will be involved in assessing, planning care, implementing and monitoring of rheumatology patients. The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience in rheumatology nursing and working autonomously within an outpatient/clinic setting. They will demonstrate a high level of practical and decision-making skills in order to safeguard patients particularly those on immunosuppressant and biologic therapies. The post holder must have the necessary skills to ensure appropriate education and support to meet the physical, psychological and social needs of rheumatology patients and their careers. Main duties of the job

The role includes practitioner-led clinics, advice via a telephone and email helpline service, provision of shared care monitoring, and assisting in/ delivery of nurse led outpatient clinics.

Full support will be provided from the band 7 Rheumatology practitioners as well as from the rheumatology consultants enabling you to develop your skills and be able to run outpatient clinics as well as the patient adviceline

You will have excellent communication skills which will be essential in an MDT approach to management including linking with primary care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • *Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
  • *Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • *Portfolio of certified / accredited post registration professional development.

Desirable

  • *Health Assessment post graduate qualification / willingness to work towards

Experience

Essential

  • *Post registration experience in rheumatology with demonstrable evidence of knowledge and development to specialist level.
  • *In depth knowledge of specialist procedures required for role, with willingness to undertake further training/ education to achieve agreed level of competence.
  • *Knowledge of standards and policies associated with role.
  • *Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment and demonstrable experience of providing nurse led clinics or working in a senior role within an outpatients/clinic setting.
  • *Demonstrable understanding of the national / NHSE diagnostic/ therapeutic expectations / strategy around endoscopy services and can relate this to the role.
  • * Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance / patient safety process’s — can relate this to the role in relation to their personal/professional accountability.
