Job summary

The Walton Centre Therapy service offers excellent development opportunities for ambitious Physiotherapists who strive for professional excellence.

We need a clinically experienced, specialist physiotherapist with a strong interest in Neurosciences Critical Care and Acute Respiratory Medicine to provide advanced clinical leadership and support to our specialist multi-disciplinary team within the Trust.

You will have excellent leadership and organisational skills, be a strong team player and have a flexible approach to service delivery and operational management. You will have a strong commitment to CPD and your clinical and professional development will be supportedthrough regular appraisals and training.

Main duties of the job

  • Establish and manage a complex clinical caseload as appropriate to the service
  • To clinically lead and influence the critical care / respiratory physiotherapy service ensuring advanced level clinical intervention and specialist evidenced based care.
  • To work collaboratively with other clinicians, including medical and nursing staff to influence service development and ensure quality of care is delivered
  • To lead on the provision of clinical education and training to other health care professionals both internal and external to the Trust
  • To influence and lead research, innovation and professional development for self and others.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Discipline Specific Degree or Diploma
  • Relevant Professional Registration
  • MSc Advanced Practice from accredited pathway or willingness to undertake qualification
  • Management / Leadership training

Desirable

  • Mentorship experience or Professional practice educators qualification

Knowledhe and Skills

Essential

  • Evidence of significant breadth and depth of post-registration clinical experience at as advanced level
  • Evidence of attendance at relevant post graduate courses and ongoing maintenance of up to date professional development
  • Extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of Critical Care and Acute Respiratory Conditions
  • Able to plan, deliver and manage a highly, complex and demanding workload.
  • Extensive understanding of the therapy role in the management of patients on critical care and within acute ward environments
  • Highly specialist knowledge of range of assessments, therapy intervention and efficacy measurements
  • Critical understanding of the broadened level of responsibility and autonomy within advanced practice roles
  • Able lead on the development of specialist care protocols / packages / pathways relating to a range of issues.
