Job Summary
The Trust is pleased to offer this permanent Band 4 Behavioural Support Worker (Graduate Psychologist) post. The role involves working within an in-patient service, providing specialist assessment and treatment for people with Learning Disabilities and complex behavioural presentations, many of whom also have Autism Spectrum Conditions. The service is made up of 7 individual flats, allowing the environment and care of each individual to be tailored to their needs. The successful candidate will work full rotational shifts, including night shifts, and within this there will be an element of protected office based time to allow them to support the implementation of positive behavioural support and individualised care programmes designed to maximise the client’s social and psychological function. This will involve working on functional assessments, including data collection and analysis, and the development of person centred support strategies in line with the outcome of these assessments. The Behavioural Support worker will work closely with the Clinical Specialist to model behavioural strategies and implement active support across the service.
Main duties of the job
The Behavioural Support Worker will work as part of a full multi-disciplinary team, with regular clinical supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist and strong working links with the Clinical Specialist and wider multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will hold a BA or BSc degree in Psychology which meets graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society and will have experience in relation to working with people with Learning Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), histories of trauma, and mental-health issues, and will be skilled in working within a Positive Behaviour Support model.
This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake required physical interventions as required. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.
