Job summary

We are recruiting to the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist post within the Hastings & Rother CAMHS service. The post-holder will join an established and supportive psychiatry and wider multi-disciplinary team, playing a key role in delivering safe, effective and compassionate care to children and young people aged 0-18. In addition to community CAMHS responsibilities, the post-holder will also contribute to the CAMHS Liaison service, providing specialist assessment and review for young people presenting with complex needs and high-risk mental health difficulties within the acute hospital setting.

This job attracts aRecruitment and Retention payment of £45,000structured over a three-year period as follows:

o£15,000 payable upon successful recruitment

o£10,000 payable at 12 months’ service

o£10,000 payable at 24 months’ service

o£10,000 payable at 36 months’ service

Main duties of the job

The service we provide is in line with NICE Evidenced Based Treatment for those children and young people. You will provide high quality specialist clinical assessments, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation to children, young people and their families in a range of settings, and work collaboratively with other members of the team to plan and deliver appropriate individually tailored treatment plans.

You will work as part of a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team which includes nurses, psychologists, social workers, systemic family therapists and child psychotherapists. This post will work alongside other Consultants and Specialist Doctors who work in Sussex CAMHS.

You will also be part of a Trust wide consultant network where there are opportunities to liaise with colleagues in other posts throughout the Trust and develop peer networks. You will also see consultant peers at regular division meetings in the locality and at clinical governance meetings.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

  • MBBS
  • Entry onto the specialist register currently or within 6 months
  • Ac status or achievable within 3 months
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent clinical skills using biopsychosocial perspective and wider medical knowledge

Desirable

  • Experience of clinical research/service evaluation
  • Evidence of experience in education, research, audit
