Job summary
This exciting role is ideal for individuals with NHS experience in cancer services or a patient-facing healthcare setting. The successful applicant will become valued member of the Gynaecology Oncology nursing team, supporting women affected by gynaecological cancers and contributing to the delivery of high quality compassionate care.
The Cancer Care Navigator (CCN) will be part of the Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) team and will work very closely with the nurses to provide a single point of contact for the patients within that cancer tumour site. The role will also link closely with MDT Facilitators and Diagnostic Services to promote seamless coordination and timely management of patients at all points of the cancer pathway.
This role is patient facing; working as a direct point of contact for suspected and confirmed cancer patients and their carers throughout the whole cancer pathway. This role includes assisting in the delivery of the National Living with Beyond Cancer agenda (LWBC).
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this role is to complement and support the existing gynaecology cancer team to support patients from referral, through diagnosis and onto treatment and beyond by providing a safe, seamless, patient centred services. Maximising the health and quality of life of the patient and carers and improving the quality and efficiency of health care delivery.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE English language and Mathematics (Grades A-C) or equivalent
- Relevant NVQ 3 or equivalent level training in either administration or healthcare
- Recognised ECDL or equivalent or extensive Microsoft office package
Desirable
- Diploma in administrative practice or business management or equivalent knowledge
- Foundation degree in health and social care or equivalent higher apprenticeship
Experience
Essential
- Significant NHS at band 3 or equivalent
- Experience of multi-professional working
- Experience in the use of data management
- Experience of providing or assisting in patient education
