Job summary
To proactively assist the Head of Capital Infrastructure in the provision of aCustomer focused comprehensive Capital Project Service to fulfil the needsof the Trust’s Capital Programme, along with assisting the Director of Infrastructureand the Head of Capital Infrastructure to develop and deliver strategicplans for the Trust’s short and medium term strategic period.
The provision of professional advice on aspects which affects the Trust’sAbility to achieve its clinical needs through the consequences of capitalDevelopments, ensuring time, cost and quality standards are met.
Work with the wider estates team to ensure projects are delivered compliantWith legislation, HTMs, HBNs etc, utilising specialist advice (i.e. AP/AEs)and design consultants.
Main duties of the job
To manage and deliver a high quality cost effective Project Management service ensuring a high level of outcomes by the application of technical and managerial expertise. Proactively lead and co-ordinate projects in accordance with the overall aims, ethos and values of the Trust and relate to the policies and actions outlined in the Trust’s business plan ensuring the efficient and economical use of the Trust’s annual Capital expenditure and in line with the Trust’s financial guidance’s and frameworks, utilising all present compliancy issues with respect to legislative, statutory and NHS guidance frameworks.
Support the strategic aims of the Trust in the delivery of its minor and major capital programme delivering projects which include site rationalisation, environmental improvement, ward upgrade, statutory compliance and backlog maintenance reduction initiatives.
The Project Manager will be part of the Estates Department Capital Projects Unit (CPU) consisting of multidisciplinary project managers. This post offers a project manager role with specialism in a construction and built environment related qualification (Engineering related) for a range of delegated schemes across the Trust. The CPT provides the Trust with a unique in-house project management service from inception and procurement through to the completion and commissioning of a wide range of projects.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Significant experience in working in an estates and capital planning/project management role in a Healthcare environment
- Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in managing Capital Projects.
- Experienced in managing construction and engineering Projects – General Building Construction, Site management, Project Management procedures and processes.
- Understanding of construction procurement processes, frameworks etc.
- Knowledge of using standard form construction contracts (JCT, NEC etc.)
- Construction related H&S management
- Computer literate in Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
- Contract Law and Building Legislation and Regulations.
- Full UK Driving Licence or equivalent.
Desirable
- Knowledge of NHS operational processes and procedures
- Knowledge of NHS financial processes and procedures
- P23 processes and procedures
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge of MiCAD
- Knowledge of HTM’s/HBN’s
Qualifications & Training
Essential
- HNC/HND (electrical/mechanical/building related)
- Clear evidence of CPD
Desirable
- Educated to degree level (Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services related)
- Professional registration in an engineering related discipline
- AutoCAD
- Prince 2 Practitioner
- Relevant CSCS Card and/or NEBOSH Cert.
