Wolverhampton Children’s SLT Team is a supportive and innovative service.

Are you a newly qualified or experienced Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist and would like to join our team? Our band 5 staff work in mainstream schools, special schools and pre-school areas. We have an excellent NQP programme to support those new to the profession and established management and peer support for those with more experience.

Our SLT Teams are embedded as part of the wider MDTs. The children’s service has a wealth of experience and support in areas such as dysfluency, cleft palate, severe speech, HI, ASD and dysphagia. You will have access to proactive SLT team leads, a supportive admin team, embedded supervision, and support structures for both professional development and wellbeing.

We benefit from being part of a large SLT service which includes adult SLT services allowing opportunities for cross-service development projects. The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is a teaching organisation and CPD is both well supported and actively encouraged. There is very strong AHP leadership.

Main duties of the job

To provide a high level of Speech and Language Therapy expertise to children with developmental communication and/or swallowing difficulties.

To manage a defined Speech and Language Therapy caseload independently.

To participate in the development and delivery of training to others.

To supervise Speech and Language Therapy Support Practitioners, volunteers and students.
