Job Summary
The post holder will act as the specialist Clinical Data Analyst for the Urology service, responsible for the development, management, analysis and interpretation of complex clinical datasets supporting patient care, service improvement, audit, and research.
Working autonomously and in collaboration with clinical, managerial and research colleagues, the post holder will design, maintain and interrogate clinical databases, ensuring high standards of data quality, validation and governance. They will provide timely, accurate and clinically meaningful analysis and reporting, enabling benchmarking against national standards and supporting local and national audit and research requirements.
The role will play a key part in translating data into insight, advising the multidisciplinary team on data interpretation, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for service improvement, and supporting evidence-based decision-making across the Urology service.
Main duties of the job
Specialist Clinical Data Analyst for Urology, providing expert advice on clinical data management, quality assurance, governance, and interpretation. Responsible for designing, maintaining, and analysing complex clinical databases, ensuring high-quality data through validation, reconciliation, and governance processes. Produces analytical reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to support clinical governance, quality improvement, audits, research studies, and national benchmarking initiatives.
Leads the management of a tracking database for approximately 850 bladder cancer patients, monitoring treatment pathways, surveillance schedules, and follow-up compliance, while identifying and escalating patient safety risks. Collaborates with clinicians, researchers, and trial teams to support data collection, reporting, and research delivery, including national and international studies. Provides training and guidance to staff, integrates and analyses data from multiple sources, and contributes specialist analytical expertise to service development, grant applications, publications, and quality improvement projects, ensuring compliance with NHS data standards, information governance, and research regulations.
