Job summary
We are excited to present this unique opportunity for a post FY2 doctor with at least four months experience in EM. Here is a chance to develop your clinical skills in Emergency Medicine. This post will allow the successful appointee the ability to ‘add something extra’ to their CV, and would be particularly suitable for someone who wishes to take a “professional gap year.” For candidates with Emergency Medicine experience on an existing training scheme this post would offer an opportunity to pursue a special interest as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) block.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be fully involved in all aspects of the work of the department under the supervision of the consultants and will attend to the initial assessment and treatment of the patients attending the department across the spectrum of Emergency Medicine.
The post holder will participate in the Education and Training, Clinical Audit, Clinical Risk Management and the Clinical Governance activities of the Department and Trust ensuring full and proper records are completed for this purpose.

Experience
Essential
- Full GMC registration
- Provider status at ALS
- Experience in an NHS Emergency Medicine role following training
- Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers and other staff
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Evidence of commitment/insight to the area of special interest
- Within 6 months of CCT or within 18 months of submitting a CESR route portfolio
- Successful completion of a UK based Foundation Programme or equivalent
Desirable
- Provider status in ATLS/APLA
- A commitment to, and experience of teaching
- A CV of mountaineering experience consistent with working on a Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) (assessment by local MRT).
