Job summary

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team.

The successful candidate will have gained experience in a broad range of clinical skills in restorative dentistry, oral surgery, paediatric dentistry, community or special care dentistry and be confident in managing patients with these dental procedures and additional needs. They will be adaptable, motivated and be content working across sites with a variety of professional colleagues. An ability to manage patients under conscious sedation would be desirable.

Education, Qualifications and Specialist Skills

Essential

  • BDS or equivalent primary dental qualification.
  • Current full registration with the UK General Dental Council.
  • Performer number with NHS England
  • At least 3 years postgraduate training, at least one year of which is in a relevant specialty.

Desirable

  • Leadership and training experience.
  • Higher Degree.

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Broad range of clinical experience in Restorative Dentistry and general dentistry
  • Experience in treating CDS patient groups or equivalent.

Management and Administration Experience

Essential

  • Committed to share in professional, managerial and teaching responsibilities necessary to fulfil the obligations of the Directorate to the Trust and its workforce.
  • Flexible approach to service delivery and committed approach to development.
  • Able to communicate well with patients and colleagues.
  • An understanding of Clinical Governance.

Desirable

  • Proven administration ability.
  • Understanding of service and specialty goals.

Teaching

Essential

  • Experience of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in medical education.
  • Experience of supervising junior dental staff.
  • Ability to teach clinical skills.

Research

Essential

  • Evidence of leading clinical audit.
  • An understanding of Clinical Governance

Desirable

  • Higher degree.

Audit

Essential

  • Evidence of participation in audit.

Desirable

  • Higher degree.
  • Publications in the last 2 years.
  • Evidence of involvement in and understanding of research methodology and publication of findings.
  • Research/critical review of literature essential.
