Job summary
Enthusiastic and caring dentists required to work as part of a team in Gwent.
The post will provide an interesting and challenging role for an established, experienced dental practitioner who will be joining a committed and motivated community dental service. The post holder will carry out oral healthcare to vulnerable children and adults requiring special care dentistry. Supervision of undergraduate dental students is also required.
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) Community Dental Service (CDS) offers support for professional and personal development and training opportunities to succeed in the above roles. The service is able to provide accredited in house sedation training as well as in more specialist areas such as Special Care and Paediatric Dentistry. We would welcome applications from enthusiastic and self-motivated team players with the presence and credibility to generate commitment and support from other members of the team, and who are able to demonstrate good clinical and communication skills.
There is Dental Therapist support available.
Main duties of the job
To undertake the full range of preventative and clinical oral care expected of a Community Dentist treating children and vulnerable adults in fixed and mobile dental units, care homes and hospital care across (ABUHB) area. Duties also include supervision of undergraduate dental students.
To provide dental care in sites where appropriate for children and vulnerable adults including domiciliary care, alongside other clinical staff as required.

Essential
- Full GDC Registration
- BDS
- Foundation 1 (DF1) or equivalent
Desirable
- Further postgraduate qualifications i.e. MJDF
- Dental core training
Experience
Essential
- Broad based experience in NHS primary and community dental care
- Participation in CPD and Personal Develop Planning as per GDC standards
Desirable
- Experience of NHS Conscious Sedation
Research
Essential
- Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence
Desirable
- Evidence of inclusion with research projects with publication
Quality and patient safety
Essential
- Evidence of participation in Quality and Patient Safety activities, that includes audit, Peer Review, Reflective Learning etc.
Desirable
- Initiation of quality improvement projects and measured outcomes
