As part of this journey, we are seeking an exceptional Company Secretary to support DBTH on its continuing journey to strengthen leadership, governance and organisational effectiveness, providing expert governance advice and support at the heart of our DBTH Team.We are looking for someone who is calm, credible and forward-thinking, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to build confidence and trusted relationships with board members, governors and colleagues across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate, you will play a central role in ensuring strong and effective corporate governance across the Trust, providing high-quality support to the Board of Directors, Council of Governors and Executive Team.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Governance qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Masters degree or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Chartered Governance and Institute of Directors qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of corporate governance and Board assurance within a complex organisation
  • Experience managing compliance with legal, constitutional and regulatory requirements
  • Experience developing and maintaining effective governance frameworks

Desirable

  • Previous NHS/Foundation Trust experience
  • Governance experience within a regulated environment
  • Experience supporting Board development and effectiveness reviews

Essential

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
