Job summary
Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to welcome applications for 2 Consultants in Respiratory Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding Respiratory team. We are looking for highly motivated colleagues with excellent communication and team working skills. You will hold MRCP (or equivalent) and you must be fully registered with the GMC or within six months of obtaining your CCT. These posts seek to combine your commitment to Respiratory Care, recognising that you may also wish to retain an interest in a specialist field.
Applications will be considered from candidates who are currently working as Locum NHS consultants and applying to be on the GMC specialist register via CESR. If successful, they will be initially offered a locum consultant post on a1 year fixed term contract whilst they obtain their Specialist registration.
The department consists of two acute Respiratory Wards, a specialist nursing team providing integrated care across acute and community settings, and a specialist respiratory physiology department provided in the community.
The trust is looking to expand the consultant team and allow further innovation and specialisation. The posts will primarily be based at the Royal Bolton Hospital and support the delivery of a seven-day Respiratory Consultant service on a 1 in 8 Respiratory rota, with minimal GIM commitment.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will share inpatient responsibilities with the other consultants with daily ward rounds on dedicated ward weeks. In-patient work includes a rotating in-reach service to the emergency department and admissions wards with a daily 4 patient rapid access clinic. The doctor will also support out patient and hospital at home services. We have an acute NIV service, interventional pulmonology service including Bronchoscopy, EBUS, Medical Thoracoscopy, a dedicated pleural clinic, a TB clinic and a modern lung function laboratory. A job plan for the post will be agreed with the successful candidates after appointment. There are opportunities to develop new services and expand existing services including training in EBUS depending on the successful candidates’ interests.
We are willing to consider flexible working requests such as part time or annualised hoursbut you will be expected to work shifts on a rota that supports service needs
