Job summary

We are inviting applications for a full time Consultant Anaesthetist based at Ipswich Hospital, part of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT).

This post has been developed as we expand our permanent workforce as well as bring new colleagues into our team following retirements. We are a strong and supportive department and are looking for colleagues who can bring their own skills and attributes to the department.

We are particularly interested in recruiting colleagues with a significant interest in any of the following areas: perioperative medicine, anaesthesia for general and urological surgery including robotics, anaesthesia for spinal surgery and obstetric anaesthesia. Person Specification

Essential

Essential

  • Must be on GMC Specialist Register in Anaesthesia or be eligible for entry within 6 months of interview
  • FRCA or equivalent
  • Evidence of SIA / specialist interest in one of perioperative medicine, anaesthesia for major general surgery, obstetric anaesthesia, orthopaedic anaesthesia
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Understanding of process of medical education and current training programmes
  • Commitment and evidence of CPD
  • Understanding of NHS management structure
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
  • Full driving licence and regular access to a car
  • Educational/ clinical supervisor (the necessary training will be provided for applicants that have not undertaken these roles previously)

Desirable

  • Current ALS and EPLS or APLS
  • Faculty on simulation course
  • Additional qualification eg Diploma
  • SIA / significant experience in a complimentary area of relevance to DGH anaesthetic practice
  • Experience working at NHS consultant level as an anaesthetist
  • Evidence of strong positive feedback for teaching
  • Faculty on simulation courses or resuscitation courses
  • Evidence of some management training, e.g. attendance at specific management course, specific management qualification
  • Successful QI work presented as poster or oral presentation at regional or national level
