Job summary
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Consultants in Acute & General Internal Medicine to join our multidisciplinary team based in either Grimsby or Scunthorpe.
The successful candidate will form one of an expanded team of consultants in the department providing services at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Foundation Trust. The posts have been developed on the background of service redesign, 7 day access and growing needs to support education and training. The appointees shall join General Physicians in medicine, each with a special interest.
The successful candidate will be on the GMC Specialist Register and will play a pivotal role in the management of acute and general medical patients, bringing leadership, expertise, and a holistic approach to patient care. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on patient outcomes and contribute to the continuous improvement of our services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert clinical care to acute and general medical patients, focusing on comprehensive and individualized treatment plans.
- Lead and manage the acute and general medical areas, fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and excellence.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective patient care plans.
- Engage with patients and their families, ensuring clear communication and shared decision-making.
- Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols to enhance patient safety and quality of care.
- Mentor and train junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of acute and general medicine.
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing emergency care and guidance as needed.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Eligibility
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCP or equivalent medical qualification
- Applicant’s knowledge is up to date and fit to practise safely
- ALL sections of application form FULLY completed
- Appropriate to the holding of a Consultant in acute medicine
- On the Specialist Register via CCT , CESR or European Community Rights

- applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English OR ohave the following scores in the academic lnternational English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Overall 7.5, Speaking 7.5, Listening 7.5, Reading 7.5, Writing 7.5

- Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings required in the job.
Desirable

- ALS instructors certificate
- Hospital at night team working / experience.
