Location: Whipps Cross University Hospital, London with the potential to work across Barts Health Trust sites e.g., Newham.

Whipps Cross University Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Retina/ Uveitis Consultant to join our busy ophthalmology team. You will manage medical retinal conditions, including AMD, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disease, in outpatient clinics and injection suites.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality patient care across the medical retina service.

Lead MR clinics

Supervise trainees and support staff development.

Contribute to audit, service improvement, and research activities.

Requirements:

GMC registration and CCT or CESR in Ophthalmology with medical retina expertise.

Proven experience in managing medical retina conditions and uveitis.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

Essential

  • CCT or equivalent or within 6 months of a date
  • Full registration and on GMC Specialist Register
  • FRCOphth or equivalent
  • Fellowship – Medical Retina
  • Fellowship – Uveitis

Desirable

  • Higher degree (PhD or MD)
  • Consultant experience
  • Academic Prizes

  • Wide experience in all aspects of Ophthalmology
  • Established portfolio of teaching experience.
