Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neurophysiology team within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. We are seeking a clinician with imagination, drive and commitment to work in Leicester. You will be required to have appropriate experience in Neurophysiology and hold or be within 6 months of obtaining certification from the General Medical Council (CCT). Applications are especially welcome from applicants with special interest in bone care and Osteoporosis.

You will be expected to:

Report on Diagnostic test

Report on Inpatient/Outpatient diagnostic tests

Provide specialist out-patient opinion and case management;

To contribute in the ongoing development of Neurophysiology services for the local population.

The role also involves participation in training and educational activities , administrative, teaching, continuing medical education and audit activities whilst maintaining clinical excellence within the service.

Main duties of the job

Full time, but applications would be welcome from those wishing to work part time.

This is a great opportunity to be part of the Neurophysiology Department who are seeking a substantive consultant to join anther consultant and department of excellent physiologists.

The post is for a full-time contract (10 PAs) but the option to work flexibly (less than full time) exists if it is the candidate’s preference. The job is available as soon as a successful candidate is appointed.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Fully Accredited for Higher Specialist Training or will be eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
  • MRCP/MRCS or Equivalent

Desirable

  • Membership of relevant Specialist Societies or Associations.
  • Higher degree e.g. MSc, MD or equivalent.

Experience

  • Excellent clinical skills and experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the Job Plan

Audit/ Quality Improvement

  • Effective participation in and a commitment to clinical audit.
  • Participation in a quality improvement programme
  • Experience of quality improvement work and audit

Desirable

  • Undergone training in teaching and willingness to organise relevant audit activities including quality improvement evidence
  • Completion of formal courses in Audit and quality improvement.
  • Published Audit including quality improvement.
