Job summary
We are looking for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to joinour team of Consultants in Women’s Health at Bristol NHS Foundation Trust at our Southmead Hospital site.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team when we are developing and expanding services offering high quality care to our women in all parts of our service.
As the hub for theSouth WestComplex Termination of Pregnancy Network and a direct NHS abortion care provider, experience in abortion care and management would be especially welcome.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should have a CCT or be within six months of achieving this at the date of interview or be listed on the GMC’s specialist register to be eligible for application for a substantive post. CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.
The postholder willbe responsible forthe clinical management of patients under their care, and, in liaison with consultant colleagues, continuity of care when the post holder is absent.The postholder willbe responsible forthe professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.The postholder will berequiredto take part in a Clinical Audit Programme.

Qualifications
Essential
- MRCOG or equivalent
- Maintain Full registration with the GMC.
- CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and have been entered on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of commencing the post.
- Applicants should have a CCT or be within six months of achieving this at the date of interview or be listed on the GMC’s specialist register to be eligible for application for a substantive post. CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.
Desirable
- Higher academic qualification (e.g., MD or MS).
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in general obstetrics
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
Desirable
- Experience in routine and complex abortion care, including the provision of surgical abortion to 23+6 weeks and provision of feticide
Other
Essential
- Agreement to travel to and work in other Bristol NHS Foundation Trust sites necessitated by the role
- Meets professional health requirements

- Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
