Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecology Consultants x 2(Urogynaecology/Vaginal Surgery and Generic O&G Experience)
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
We are currently recruiting for two replacement posts to join our supportive team that takes pride not only in delivering clinical excellence but also in fostering an inclusive environment where every member of staff is valued and appreciated.
Both job plans will be weighted more to Gynaecology, but also include an on call Obstetric component, plus other interests to suit the individual applicants & complement the team.

Our department offers a wide range of general and specialist obstetric and gynaecological services, delivered through close collaboration between consultants, doctors, nurses, and midwives. These services include:
Urogynaecology
Gynaecological oncology
Outpatient gynaecology
Early pregnancy assessment
Colposcopy
Specialist antenatal clinics
Fetal medicine
Consultant-led obstetrics and intrapartum care
Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will play a key role in delivering high-quality care and supporting benign gynaecology services, helping the department reduce long waiting times.
An interest in urogynaecology or vaginal surgery would be welcome, though other complementary subspecialty interests are also valued. The on-call rota covers both obstetrics and gynaecology.
The successful candidates will:-
Deliver high-quality, consultant-led care to patients, with a focus on safety, timeliness and effectiveness.
Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff, ensuring robust support and the highest standards of patient care.
Actively engage in rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision-making processes to support safe and efficient patient journeys.
Participate in the teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff, including direct supervision of junior and specialty doctors.
Contribute to the department’s clinical governance agenda, supporting continuous learning and quality improvement through leadership roles.
Adhere to and promote the Trust’s clinical and corporate governance policies.
Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to address service-related issues and support ongoing service development.
Person Specification

Essential
- Full GMC Registration (with licence to practice).
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- CCT Specialist Registration or will obtain within 6 months of interview date.
- Advanced Labour Ward Practice ATSM or equivalent
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Desirable
- Other degrees, e.g. BSc, MSc, MD.
- Suitable ATSMs or equivalent experience
- Urogynaecology
