An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon to join the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking clinician to help deliver a comprehensive OMFS service across our hospital sites, providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population. The successful candidate will join a supportive consultant team and contribute to clinical care, teaching, training, clinical governance and service development. There will be opportunities to develop and expand specialist clinical interests in line with departmental priorities and the successful candidate’s expertise and aspirations

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery service across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The role includes the assessment and management of patients across the full range of OMFS practice, participation in elective and emergency care, outpatient and theatre activity, and contribution to the consultant on-call rota. The post holder will be expected to support the education and supervision of junior medical staff, participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities, and contribute to the ongoing development of services. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop specialist clinical interests that complement the needs of the department and Trust.

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC and GDC registration
  • On specialist register in Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Hold CCST in Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent
  • Hold specialty intercollegiate FRCS Or equivalent

Desirable

  • A post-graduate medical degree or equivalent

  • Strong teaching skills and experience
  • Experience of teaching at postgraduate level to medical staff
