An opportunity has arisen to join our team at Ipswich Hospital in the Child Health CDG.
We are inviting applications for a Consultant in Acute Paediatrics with a special interest in Cardiology. Applicants will have completed CCT or equivalent (Portfolio Pathway) and must be on the Specialist Register or due to have completed CCT within 6 months of interview date.
Proposed Interview date- 22nd September 2026.

Main duties of the job
General
All consultants in the department have a continuing and individual responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and a general responsibility to provide, in conjunction with their colleagues, an effective Service to meet the needs of the local population, within the resources available.
The post-holder will:
o Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standard of careo Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelineso Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients and A&Eo Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary careo Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC registration
- MRCPCH or equivalent
- CCT or equivalent in paediatrics (or within 6 months of date of interview)
Desirable
- EACVI Certification in Congenital Heart Disease Echocardiography (ECHO CHD)
Experience
Essential
- 5 years at ST4-8 level (or equivalent) or sufficient time to gain Level 2 and Level 3 RCPCH competencies.
- Broad experience in general paediatrics and neonatal intensive care in the UK
Desirable
- Clinical experience relevant to SPIN, or equivalent training
