Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our well-established Holderness General Adult Community Mental Health Team in the beautiful East Riding of Yorkshire. Based within the picturesque Holderness area, including Hornsea and Withernsea, this is a fully community-based post, with no inpatient responsibility. As part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, you will provide senior clinical leadership, assessment and management of complex cases, and contribute to the ongoing development of high-quality, recovery-focused mental health services. The service is supported by experienced nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers and administrative staff, serving a population of over 52,000 people. You’ll also have opportunities to teach and supervise trainees, participate in research and quality improvement, and benefit from excellent CPD support.

Main duties of the job

There is a requirement that the successful candidate will undertake on-call responsibilities on the specialist Consultant on-call rota for General Adult Psychiatry.

Applicants should have full registration with the GMC, possess MRCPsych UK or have an equivalent post-graduate qualification. They should be on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry, or be within 6 months of achieving CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.

ELIGIBILITY

Essential

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment

Desirable

  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych
  • Additional clinical qualifications.

CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA

Desirable

  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service

ACADEMIC SKILLS AND LIFELONG LEARNING

Essential

  • Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
  • Ability to work in and lead team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement
  • Participated in continuous professional development.
  • Participated in research or service evaluation.

  • Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
