Job summary
Mersey Care NHSFT is looking for outstanding candidate for this attractive permanent position as CRHT Consultant Psychiatrist to work in Mid Mersey St Helens and Knowsley CRHT which is based at the Harry Blackman House, St Helens. This role is to provide excellent clinical care to service users, clinical leadership and expertise within our highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary team. There are satellite bases across other boroughs in Warrington, Halton and Knowsley from where services are also delivered. Some outpatient clinics may be held at satellite base in Knowsley Resource and Recovery Centre (KRRC) that also has Coniston Inpatient Ward (Male), Grasmere Ward (Female), Rydal Ward (Old Age) and Knowsley Recovery Team.
The post holder will regularly attend the Trust-wide Tuesday morning Local Academic postgraduate (LAP) programme (Local MRCPsych teaching) currently online via Teams as part of their weekly SPA sessions.
The post holder will work closely with the other consultant colleagues in CRHT and be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. They will be encouraged to purse education and experience for their professional development.
The post holder will be expected to take a lead in ongoing developments in CRHT and support the Trust’s strategic aims of delivering “Perfect Care”.
Main duties of the job

This role is to provide excellent clinical care to service users, clinical leadership and expertise within our highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary team.
This will consist of patient reviews and home Visits to see urgent or emergency reviews for patients open to the team although the bulk of cases will be reviewed on site.
Management of complex cases and consultative advice on patient care to other team members.
Clinical leadership of team by participating in team MDTs to discuss allocations of patients and dispense the responsibilities under that Role for such patients as per the MHA Code of Practice.
Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
Liaison and collaborative working with other services/agencies.
Mental Health Act implementation.
Oncall Rota
Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working.
Maintain Contemporaneous documentation electronically on patient records and also timely communications with primary care colleagues.
Maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out clinical assessments.
Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- MRCPsych
- Additional clinical qualifications.
Eligibility
Essential
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
Desirable
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Transport
Essential
- Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.

- Excellent knowledge in specialty
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
