Job summary

The Ophthalmology Directorate is looking to appoint a full-time substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in VR .

The successful candidate will join a team of 18 consultants providing specialist services in VR, Diabetes, Cornea, Medical & Surgical Retina, Ocular Motility, Oculoplastics and Uveitis.

Main duties of the job

Whilst the post will be primarily based at New Cross Hospital, the successful candidate will be required to carry out clinics and theatre sessions at Cannock Chase Hospital or Walsall Manor Hospital.

The department welcomes applications from candidates who are in possession of FRCOphth or equivalent or those who are on the GMC specialist register (or are eligible for registration within 6 months of the interview date with a certificate of completion of specialist training).

Essential

  • Full Registration and a Licence to practice with the GMC

Desirable

  • Higher Medical Degree
  • FRCOph

Experience

Essential

  • Specialist interest in Glaucoma

Desirable

  • Evidence of audit and implementation of change following audit
