Job summary
This is a 10 PA Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatry post co-leading the Hounslow CAMHs Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT) in Hounslow CAMHS alongside a second Consultant Psychiatrist post.
The post holder will be operationally and professionally accountable to the CAMHS Clinical Director through the Borough Clinical Lead, and in turn accountable to the Trust`s Chief Medical Officer and the Executive Director of Local Services.
This post (10 PAs) provides the opportunity to work with three other Consultant Psychiatrists and the multi-disciplinary Neurodevelopmental team based in Hounslow CAMHS. The team sits within the CAMHS Service Line which also includes Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Forensic CAMHS.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will share overall Consultant responsibility for the Neurodevelopmental Team. The arrangement between the Consultants will be agreed on appointment. At present the Consultants have defined the overall Team Lead role alongside respective Lead roles for the ASD and ADHD pathways.
The post-holder will be responsible together with his/her Consultant colleagues on the Hounslow site, for the provision of comprehensive general child and adolescent mental health services in Hounslow CAMHS in line with service and contractual requirements.
The Consultant will be expected to share responsibility for the efficient and effective running of the service. The various roles and responsibilities of all staff and the Consultant group are agreed with the Clinical Director in line with the current service needs, service developments and clinical interests and managed within an annual formal job planning process. The post-holder will have the opportunity to develop special interests that meet the needs of the service e.g. tic disorders, ASD home treatment, safeguarding or other areas of interest.
Within the Neurodevelopmental Team, the post-holder will assist with the delivery of a comprehensive range of general mental health assessments, specialist ASD & ADHD assessments, therapeutic interventions, training and consultation with the multi-disciplinary team. He/she will share responsibility for allocated cases and other clinical leadership duties for the team.

Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- MRCPsych
- Additional clinical qualifications
Eligibility
Essential
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
- GMC Specialist Register for child and adolescent psychiatry or within six months
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Desirable
- Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Clinical Skills, Knowledge and experience

- Excellent clinical skills in child and adolescent psychiatry
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Excellent knowledge in speciality
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty

- Wide range of specialist and subspecialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
