Job Summary

The Data Analyst sits in the Digital Data & Technology (DDaT) Operations team, adding value for our patients through improving and developing information services across the Trust and wider health and care system.

To ensure the information is an effective component of the Trust’s Digital Data & Technology (DDaT) target operating model, working alongside others, delivering continuous overall improvement.

This role is part of supporting the ‘engine room’ of DDaT operations,transitioning from outsourced arrangements to an in-house delivery model.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Senior Information Analyst to ensure that the information team is able to successfully deliver on its service level requirements, working to transform trust data into timely accurate information.

The post is to provide analytical support, innovative ways of presenting information and develop new analyses to inform in the monitoring and improvement of performance within the Trust. Supporting the provision of a comprehensive information and analysis service, ensuring the highest quality information is available for all internal and external corporate reporting requirements. This will involve complex analysis and interpretation of all aspects of health information.

You will support health care activities within the NHS, clinical disparate systems and understand case mix and patient flows and operational processes to support divisional objectives.

Person Specification

Education, Qualification and Training

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience in a role involving analysis, investigation and resolution of complex statistical / analytical queries.
  • Experience of contributing to Information Management policies.
  • Commitment and willingness to undertake on-going training and development.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within an NHS or health sector organization.
  • Experience of applying NHS Data Standards and knowledge of the data dictionary

Experience

Essential

  • Excellent working knowledge of computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Excel and SQL/ Management Information Systems.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to interpret data, create reports and communicate findings to a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of priorities.

Desirable

  • Information experience gained in an Acute setting.
  • Experience in delivering training on technical information.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Essential

  • Able to maintain productive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Able to present complex information to staff with limited technical knowledge, and differing levels of understanding and seniority.
  • Ability to provide information reporting to a high standard.
  • Able to work independently and without supervision and be responsible for own workload, assuring agreed objectives are met.
  • Able to work under pressure with externally defined schedules, changing priorities and a complex and political agenda
