We are excited to offer an opportunity to join the North London Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN), as a Data and Analytics Officer.The Data and Analytics Officer is responsible for the delivery of a range of reporting and digital solutions which facilitate and underpin all services and functions of the NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN).

This role offers a dynamic and collaborative environment where you will contribute to shaping the future of health and care research in North London.

The RDN’s mission is to enable the health and care system to attract, optimise and deliver research across England, contributing to the NIHR’s overarching goal of improving the health and wealth of the nation through research.

Main duties of the job

The Data and Analytics Officer will be a data specialist responsible for the maintenance and improvement of reporting and digital solutions which support the region, RRDN research Delivery Organisations, other regional stakeholders, and the wider RDN in accessing and engaging with data.

This role is part of the regional Data and Analytics team which forms part of the national RDN Data and Analytics function, who collectively work to deliver national projects alongside regional priorities and innovation.

The position will require a good knowledge of key analytical and statistical techniques and core business intelligence tools alongside an inquisitive and curious mind. These tools would include a strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and a working knowledge of other platforms such as Qlik, Looker Studio, R, Python and GIS/Mapping.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g. Postgraduate Diploma) in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience or Undergraduate degree supplemented by specialist training or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Background in Research and Development, science or healthcare
  • European Computer Driving Licence

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • An understanding of health information or equivalent experience of information handling and analysis gained in a work environment
  • Experience in developing data visualisations, via dashboards or other tools, which support business decision making
  • Knowledge of solutions for data visualisation and analytics
  • An understanding of relational database design/development and database querying using Structured Query Language (SQL) or similar
  • Experience with Microsoft and Google platforms
  • An understanding of user centred design processes or similar which engage stakeholders in the full process of designing and delivering digital solutions

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering a customer-focused service
  • An understanding of Agile concepts/methodology
  • An understanding of low-code digital solutions which support stakeholders in improving services and optimising workflow, for example AppSheets, Neptune
  • An understanding of the UK health research system, including the NIHR
  • Experience and ability to participate constructively in meetings and decision making processes
