Job Summary
We wish to appoint two full time 12-Month Fixed Term Trust Grade Doctors in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Dental Core Trainee Equivalent) to join our OMF service at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GHNHSFT). The focus of this appointment will be to maintain both the delivery of an oral surgery service to patients of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and provide a weekday, daytime, first on-call service for OMFS.
The purpose of this role is to provide a Trust Doctor post within the Trust’s Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery service. The post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertake varied activities including:
- Supervised treatment under local anaesthetic, IV sedation or general anaesthetic
- Attendance at new referral clinics & follow-up clinics (inc. 2WW)
- Assessment of patients attending the Emergency Department
- Pre- and post-operative assessment of in-patient and day case patients & ward rounds
- On-call responsibilities with 2nd on-call support at all times

Qualifications
Essential
- Full General Dental Council (GDC) registration a licence to practice. Temporary registration is not acceptable for this post
- BDS or Equivalent
- IELTS or graduate of a UK Medical/Dental School
- Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE Grade C or equivalent)
- Eligible to work in the UK
Experience
Essential
- At least 2 full years of post-graduate experience
- Ability to operate and work independently whilst being aware of own limitations and know when to consult senior colleagues
- Excellent clinical history taking and examination skills
- Punctual, trustworthy and reliable
- Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection
Knowledge/skills

- Willing and able to work with colleagues in management, nursing and other specialties
- Ability to work as art of a team
- Great communication skills

- Publications in peer reviewed journals
