Job summary

An enthusiastic salaried GDP is required to join a growing community dental service in Powys. This opportunity will allow an individual to practice NHS general dentistry in a supportive working environment where quality of care is the primary focus with access to excellent equipment. Individuals are encouraged to develop clinical skills and will be supported by other colleagues within the team. The base will be Llandrindod Wells. Full time – 37.5 hours per week. Part time considered.

Main duties of the job

A significant part of this role will be to provide a comprehensive range of NHS dental care for eligible adults and children in Powys, including GDS patients. The candidate will also provide courses of treatment for patients who are unable to access general dental services. As part of the wider team, you will also support the rest of the team to help improve access and reduce waiting times within the service.

We would particularly welcome applications from Welsh speakers; but even if you don’t speak any Welsh, or want to develop your skills, don’t worry; the health board will support you with training.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Appropriate graduate qualification or equivalent in Dentistry
  • Registration with the GDC as a Dentist

Experience

Essential

  • Ability and experience to deal with acute dental problems
  • Current knowledge of dental surgery techniques, procedures, materials and concepts
  • Eligible for a Welsh Performer Number

Desirable

  • Experience of NHS GDS regulations

Aptitude and Ability

Essential

  • Excellent communicator
  • Ability to achieve and maintain professional standards

Desirable

  • Ability to readily understand and analyse information
  • ICT skills
