Deputy Manager – Domiciliary Care: Sponsorship Available

Fernsby Brookes is seeking a committed, organised and proactive Deputy Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day management of our domiciliary care service. This is a key operational role for someone who enjoys being hands on, working closely with care and office teams and helping to maintain high standards of safe, person centred care.

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with a strong work ethic, good organisational skills and the confidence to step into leadership responsibilities when required. This role would suit an experienced Deputy Manager, Senior Carer, Team Leader, or a care professional with strong transferable skills who is ready to progress within social care management.

You will work closely with the Registered Manager and Nominated Individual, supporting operational delivery, staff management, compliance and service quality in line with CQC regulations, local authority requirements and company values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager and Nominated Individual in the day-to-day operational management of the domiciliary care service.
  • Provide visible, hands on leadership to care and office staff, promoting professionalism, accountability and good practice.
  • Assist in ensuring the service operates in full compliance with CQC regulations, local authority contracts and relevant legislation.
  • Support safe recruitment, induction, supervision, spot checks and ongoing development of care staff.
  • Assist with rota planning, ensuring rotas are prepared efficiently, cost effectively and in line with service user needs and staff availability.
  • Be flexible to cover last minute rota gaps, including evenings and weekends where necessary and participate in the on call rota.
  • Engage with service users and their families, responding to concerns and supporting continuity and quality of care.
  • Maintain accurate and professional care documentation, records, incident reports and internal communications.
  • Support the monitoring and review of care plans to ensure they remain person centred and are implemented correctly.
  • Escalate and support the management of safeguarding concerns, working in line with company policy and statutory guidance.
  • Assist with office administration and compliance tasks, ensuring records are up to date and audit ready.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Registered Manager, as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards Level 5).
  • Experience in a supervisory, senior carer, team leader, or deputy manager role within domiciliary or community care.
  • Good working knowledge of CQC standards, safeguarding responsibilities and person centred care.
  • Ability to support, guide and motivate staff through supervision and day-to-day leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and care management systems.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and respond flexibly to service needs.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
