The Nutrition & Dietetic Dept is delighted to offer the opportunity for an enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join our Team. The post holder will work to provide general and advanced (clinical & non-clinical) support to the community dietetic service for domiciliary and outpatients as part of the UHP NHS Trust community dietetic service working under the supervision of senior dietitians.
Main duties of the job
To provide general and advanced (clinical & non-clinical) support to the acute dietetic service for in-patients and out-patients at Derriford Hospital and outlying University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP) sites, working under the supervision of senior dietitians.
To enhance the work carried out by ward dietitians, improving service efficiency, streamlining the provision of nutrition care, and facilitating effective patient discharges.
To undertake other tasks, within the dietetic department, that do not require the expertise of a registered dietitian, as assigned by a supervising dietitian.
To be involved in all Nutrition and Dietetic departmental activities and contribute to the delivery of a Trust wide dietetic service.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of working within an NHS clinical setting.
- Willingness to undertake relevant departmental training to achieve required clinical competencies.
- Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively within a health and care setting.
Desirable
- Demonstrable experience of Audit.
- Demonstrable experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrable experience of working with enterally fed patients
Qualifications
Essential
- Foundation degree or equivalent or higher
- GCSEs Maths & English Levels 9-4 (Grades A-C) or equivalent.
- Minimum NVQ / diploma in healthcare or equivalent level 3.
Desirable
- Relevant qualification/training to a higher level e.g., dietetic support worker training, degree in nutrition.
- Attendance of additional professional courses.
Aptitude & Abilities
Essential
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Able to present information, written and oral, in a clear and logical manner for patient notes and departmental documentation.
- Professional and patient focussed approach acting as a role model to colleagues and junior staff members.
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to manage own time, prioritise and plan timed activities.
Desirable
- Proven knowledge of the dietetic process.
