Bradford MHST is leading the way in early intervention mental health support delivered in schools and colleges across the region.

The role of EMHP/CWP includes:

  • Providing low intensity CBT assessments and interventions for mild to moderate mental health conditions with children and young people, delivered within schools, colleges and community settings
  • Engaging in case management and clinical skills supervision
  • Working alongside other professionals within mental health services
  • Providing consultation and supportive signposting
  • The successful applicant on appointment will receive additional training on developing, implementing and supporting a Whole School/College Approach to Mental Health.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work within a children and young people’s mental health service delivering, under supervision: high-quality, brief, outcome focused, evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will act as an interface between staff working in all emotional mental health services providing liaison, assessment, training, and consultation regarding the emotional and psychological wellbeing of children and young people.

A key aspect of work as a member of the MHST will be to support education settings to create a positive ethos through Whole School and College Approaches (WSCA) to mental wellbeing. The successful applicant on appointment will receive additional training on developing, implementing and supporting a Whole School/College Approach to Mental Health.

This post will work under the direction of the Team Lead and senior MHST Practitioners within Bradford District Care Trust’s MHST Service, including across primary, secondary, and further education settings.

The actual distribution of workload within these areas will depend on the demands of the service by agreement with the Clinical Lead.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children and young people who experience common mental health difficulties
  • Experience of managing own caseload
  • Experiencing of engaging in supervision

Desirable

  • Experience of working as an qualified EMHP or CWP gaining significant experience

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner OR Qualified Children Wellbeing Practitioner
  • Registered with BABCP or BPS or in the process of registering if newly qualified

Desirable

  • Other relevant qualification gained
  • Youth mental health first aid trained
