Hammersmith Hospital Endoscopy Unit is a Specialist Centre for Hepatobiliary in North West London. We provide tertiary care in ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP), and EUS (endoscopic ultrasound) as well as luminal endoscopic procedures.

Our three-endoscopy departments have gained JAG accreditation. All our departments offer a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:

  • upper and lower GI endoscopy
  • gastroscopy
  • colonoscopy
  • flexi sigmoidoscopy
  • bronchoscopy

Main duties of the job

  • The Role of the Nursing Associate is to assist and support the Registered Nurse/ Midwife in ensuring optimal care for the patients across the trust.
  • The post holder will be responsible for delivering high quality, patient centred compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse/ Midwife with a focus on promoting health and independence. They will be an accountable professional and have the ability to work without direct supervision; within the parameters of practice by undertaking a range of duties appropriate to the level of responsibility and knowledge and skills acquired.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification

Desirable

  • Other health relation qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information

Desirable

  • Understanding NHS/ Health and Social care
  • Previous NHS experience.
  • Endoscopy experience

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential

  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
  • Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
