Job summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Equipping Lead to support the Associate Estates and Facilities Director in delivering the ambitious redevelopment of the New Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) under the single banner of the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group (NWUHG). This role is central to ensuring that all technical design elements align with best practices and comply with both Trust and national New Hospital Programme (NHP)/Hospital 2.0 standards. With a redevelopment value of approximately £2.8bn these projects represent the most significant infrastructure investment in Norfolk in generations.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Master’s degree or equivalent level of experience in a relevant discipline (e.g. healthcare infrastructure, engineering, estates, programme management)
  • Evidence of advanced specialist knowledge developed through significant post-qualification experience
  • Recognised project/programme management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP) or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Relevant professional membership (e.g. Engineering, Estates, Project/Programme Management).

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience leading large-scale, complex capital or infrastructure programmes, ideally within healthcare or a comparable environment
  • Experience of managing multi-million-pound budgets, including financial planning, forecasting and control
  • Expert knowledge of FF&E planning, equipping strategy, specification, procurement and lifecycle management
  • Experience of coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring alignment to a single delivery strategy across complex and interdependent programme elements.
  • Advanced understanding of NHS capital planning, business case development and programme governance

Desirable

  • Experience in New Hospital Programme or equivalent major capital programme.
  • Good understanding of environmental and sustainability considerations within healthcare infrastructure.

  • Expert knowledge of FF&E planning, equipping strategy, specification, procurement and lifecycle management.
  • Advanced understanding of NHS capital planning, business case development and programme governance.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen including lifecycle costing and value-for-money decision making.
  • Demonstrable ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, exercising expert judgement in complex situations.
