Job summary

We are recruiting a General Practitioner (GPs) on a part time basis until end of August 2027 to join our established and developing Primary Care service within the Rotherham Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC). This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a well-supported multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality urgent care within a modern, fully integrated service.

The UECC brings together Emergency Department services with Primary Care and GP Out of Hours provision, enabling a coordinated and patient-centred approach to urgent care delivery. GPs within our service work across a 24-hour rota, including evenings, weekends and overnight shifts, as part of a shared and supported rota model.

Main duties of the job

This
is a varied and rewarding clinical role. GPs contribute across key areas of the
service including Urgent Primary Care, GP Out of Hours and front-door
streaming. You will assess and manage a broad range of undifferentiated
presentations, including children, minor illness, injury and appropriate acute
conditions.

The
role requires confident senior clinical decision-making, risk management and
the ability to support and supervise other clinicians within the team. You will
work alongside ACPs and Emergency Medicine colleagues, providing clinical
leadership, supporting patient flow and ensuring safe and timely care delivery.

We
are looking for GPs who are confident managing undifferentiated patients,
demonstrate sound clinical judgement and are able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary
team.

The post is available on a part-time basis, with a competitive salary. Allocation of weekend and overnight commitment is done on a pro rata contract. The post includes access to the NHS Pension Scheme, annual leave, study leave and protected CPD time.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with undifferentiated and acutely unwell patients
  • Experience of autonomous clinical practice
  • Experience of multidisciplinary teamworking
  • Ability to commit to evening, weekend and overnight working

Desirable

  • Experience in urgent care, GP Out of Hours or emergency care settings
  • Experience in clinical coordination, including supporting patient flow
  • Experience in supervision or support of ACPs or junior clinicians
  • Experience using clinical systems such as SystmOne or equivalent

Education and Teaching

Desirable

  • Teaching or supervision experience

Research and Audit

Essential

  • Evidence of audit and the implementation of change following the audit

Desirable

  • Evidence of audit and/or quality improvement activities
  • Relevant research published in peer review journal

Management Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrate effective team working skills
  • Time management and organisational ability. An example may be that you have developed and run training programmes
  • Proven knowledge of systems and process of NHS or equivalent
  • Sense of understanding and commitment to corporate responsibility

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC.
  • Please confirm your GMC Registration number
  • Eligible to be included on the Specialist register – CCT expected within 6 months of interview date Or
  • Evidence of CESR application submission and within 6 months of obtaining Specialist Registration via CESR
  • MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification.
  • MRCGP specialist qualification or equivalent
