Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated applicants to join the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Education and development team. We have two full time posts available, however part time hours would be considered. The post aims to help support the development of HCA’s across Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB).

The position will involve supporting newly appointed HCA’s and Bank workers in accessing the All-Wales Induction programme, and supporting learners through assessment of their Qualification and Credit Framework. The successful applicants must have recent NHS clinical experience as they will work in clinical areas throughout BCUHB, both hospital and community areas and assist learners in their professional development. The position will also involve the applicant designing, developing and delivering developmental session as per All Wales Induction Programme to learners.

Driving across the Health Board is essential for this position.

Office base to be confirmed West or Central.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of training programmes for Health Care Assistant (HCA) and health apprentices within the identified Health Community.

Provide assessment and support to HCA’s and apprentices in their professional development.

To implement care for patients, observe patient condition, record clinical observations and report to registered nurse while supporting HCAs and apprentices in the ward areas as part of the assessment process,

Carry out nursing procedures e.g. observations, re-dressing wounds, blood sugar levels, as part of HCA education assessment and patient care.

Supervise clinical HCA’s/Apprentices and assist in assessment and attainment of their learning and development needs.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential

  • Level 3 NVQ/QCF in a Health related subject or Equivalent
  • Level 4 Healthcare Practice or equivalent or willing to undertake within 18 months
  • Demonstration of recent continuing professional development
  • A1 Assessor Award
  • To be registered with Education Council Wales if not already registered

Desirable

  • Teaching Certificate or equivalent
  • V1 IQA Award

Experience

Essential

  • Clinically competent in a wide range of clinical interventions
  • Relevant Experience in a Healthcare environment

Desirable

  • Experience of working in partnership across organisations
  • Presentation skills
