As Head of data and analytics – corporate you will lead a team of analysts providing a comprehensive analytics service to the Trust’s corporate divisions. This will include business planning, demand and capacity modelling, internal performance monitoring alongside a number of mandatory external reports.

We are looking for a leader with extensive experience in data and analytics, preferably in a healthcare setting. You will also have strong technical expertise in data systems, analytical tools such as SQL and a deep understanding of NHS data systems, standards and challenges.

Main duties of the job

To be part of a team providing complete, accurate and timely Business Intelligence to support performance, research and education. The Business Intelligence Business Partner will lead a team of analysts to provide a comprehensive analytics service to one of the Trust’s clinical divisions or the corporate divisions. This will include business planning, demand and capacity modelling, income support, data quality and mandatory reporting. The postholder will work collaboratively with senior stakeholders/customers to ensure the Clinical/Corporate Division’s analytical needs are met. The Business Intelligence Business Partner reports to the Deputy Head of Business Intelligence and deputises in his/her absence. The postholder will be expected to work with a high degree of professional confidence and autonomy.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level or equivalent experience (relevant to role).
  • Postgraduate qualification in relevant area or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development

Desirable

  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Qualification in Project Management
  • Association of Professional Healthcare Analysts professional registration

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in healthcare informatics analytics.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of mandatory reporting requirements, NHS data standards and definitions
  • Good understanding of NHS governance and performance systems.
  • Good knowledge of NHS provider/commissioner contracts & payment by results.
  • Experience of communicating complex issues and data concepts to a range of people.
  • Advanced use of SQL to extract data from large complex databases.
  • Advanced use of Excel (macro level).

Desirable

  • Experience of QlikView
  • Experience of Business Objects
  • Experience of Cerner Millennium
