Job Summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust are now recruiting into salaried trainee CBT positions.

We would like to recruit Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapists/High Intensity Therapists into salaried 1-year trainee positions, with the potential of future employment in one of our services upon successful completion of the training. We are looking for people with a commitment to scientific practice with a willingness to learn new skills and a desire to improve the health and wellbeing of people with common mental disorders.

 

Main duties of the job

Talking Therapies provide evidence based interventions to people with anxiety disorders and depression. As part of a national IAPT (Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies) programme

Services are committed to supporting recovery for people with anxiety and depression-related problems, including people with long term physical health conditions such as diabetes and respiratory problems.

Person Specification

Qualification

Essential

  • A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following at graduate level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy.

Desirable

  • Demonstrable mental health CPD. Further training in risk management

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of working in Mental Health Services. Demonstrates experience and understanding of how to effectively manage risk within scope of practice. Ability to maintain clear notes, reports and letters.

Desirable

  • Experience of supporting service users experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Able to work towards service targets.

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Can evidence an ability to demonstrate good therapeutic relationships.

Desirable

  • Good understanding of clinical recording systems. Can demonstrate emotional intelligence and problem solving under stress.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care. Demonstrates an understanding of the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how this relates to this post

Desirable

  • Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
