Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to become a specialist radiographer in the Interventional Radiology team. We are looking for highly motivated radiographers with excellent clinical skills to join our team. We are a trauma centre and carry out a range of speciality work including neuro, vascular, urology and GI procedures.

Our department has three state of the art suites, two with Siemens Icono Biplane and one Siemens Artis Q single plane systems.

We currently run a 24/7 general on-call service and are aiming to start a 24/7 Thrombectomy on-call service in February 2026. Participation in both on-call rota’s is mandatory. Radiographers work a 4 day working week in our department, giving a good work and life balance. Part time hours will be considered.

There is a CPD calendar with active participation from Imaging staff, which we support and encourage radiographers in their career development. Post graduate study is supported. There are also advanced and enhanced practice positions currently in our department.

 

Main duties of the job

As an Interventional Radiographer you would be expected to provide clinical excellence in a highly motivated way to deliver a radiographic service in Interventional Radiology.

Assist with day to day organisation of the clinical area providing effective and efficient communication and co-operation with the multi-disciplinary team.

Participate in the 24/7 on-call services.

As part of the radiographic team you would be expected to assist in any administrative roles that may be required of you to aid the running and development of the department. This may include rota, SOP development, radiation protection, governance and PPE maintenance.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC Registration

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualification linked to your specialist area
  • Certificate in IV Cannulation

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Must have successfully the Preceptorship competencies as set out for radiographers.
  • Proven working knowledge of IRMER and IRR17
  • Proven working knowledge of PACS and RIS systems

Desirable

  • Show proven knowledge and understanding of specialist equipment

Aptitude & Abilities

Essential

  • Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritise workload

Desirable

  • Ability to interpret the Trust’s policy on Violence and Aggression in order to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
