Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Leg Ulcer Nurse in Leg Ulcer Clinics within LCHS. Ideally candidates will have experience of working with patients who have leg ulcers or an interest in wound management. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals with aspirations of a career or special interest in leg ulcer management to step into a specialist post. The successful post holders need to be motivated and committed to delivering best practice in leg ulcer management as well as developing self-management. The vacancy is a Countywide position so you will be required to travel to all the Leg Ulcer clinics in County of Lincolnshire with a minimum of 2 days a week in the North East clinics of Skegness/Mablethorpe/Grace Swan and Alford. We are looking for nurses who have a particular interest in leg ulcer management, who can be flexible, self-motivated and able to work independently. The successful candidates will work within a supportive environment, alongside the Band 6 Specialist Nurse.

Main duties of the job

Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of leg ulcer patients following the latest evidence-based practice and the trust pathways. Managing a caseload of patients. Monitoring referrals and ordering of clinic stock. Promoting shared self-care to reduce reoccurrence. Working autonomously in a leg ulcer clinic within a wider team of leg ulcer clinicians. Providing cover in other leg ulcer clinics when necessary

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • ENB 998 / FLiPS or equivalent qualification or willingness to undertake training

Desirable

  • Further relevant training in Tissue Viability Post registration qualifications e.g. Accredited pressure ulcer, leg ulcer and tissue viability courses.

Experience

Essential

  • Can demonstrate experience of assessment, care planning and care delivery
  • Experience of delegation and supervision of others
  • Evidence of the application of research and evidence based care
  • Evidence of experience in teaching / disseminating knowledge and skills Experience of team working

Desirable

  • Post registration experience in Tissue Viability setting
  • Tissue Viability Link Champion

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Possesses up to date knowledge of current issues within the profession and delivery of healthcare
  • Understands the concept of primary care nursing
  • Flexible approach to service delivery Contributes / enhances effective team

Desirable

  • Evidence of ability to maintain and monitor standards
  • Interest of health promotion
