Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Hospitals.
This is a locum consultant post, fixed term for 12 months in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, based at Tunbridge Wells Hospital pending a substantive appointment. This post is in response to the expansion of maternity services and supporting our Urogynaecology services. The candidate will be expected to integrate within the team of existing Consultants and to provide a complete Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work at both sites of the Trust, providing emergency and on-call cover. We have a weekday hot week on call between 8 am and 6 pm.

Qualifications and skills
Essential
- Full GMC registration
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- MBBS or equivalent
- Advanced Labour ward SITM or equivalent
- Entry on Specialist Register (CCT or entry expected within 6 months of interview date)
- At least one gynaecology or equivalent of the desirable criteria
Desirable
- ATSM IN benign Gynaecology
- ATSM in benign hysteroscopy
- Accredited Colposcopy
- ATSM in Urogynae
Experience/Knowledge
Essential
- Evidence of competence in gynaecological surgery for benign disease and emergency gynaecology surgery
- Evidence of competence in undertaking C-sections
- Evidence of competency in managing and treating emergency gynaecology cases
- Ability to take independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
- Evidence of experience working within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- ALSO, PROMPT or MOET instructor
- Demonstrate ideas for research and innovative practice
- Experience of clinical governance
- Training in breaking bad news or equivalent training
- Clinical research in the fields of special interest
- Experience in Clinical Audit and Quality Improvement
- Willingness to contribute to the TOP service

- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients both obstetrics and gynaecology
- Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and display leadership
Desirable
- Management qualification
- Evidence of authorship of clinical guidelines at a local or national level.
