Key Responsibilities
- Robotics & Automation Development: Design and implement robotic mechanisms for autonomous payload handling, loading, and unloading.
- Mechatronics System Integration: Develop and integrate mechanical, electrical, and software components for drone docking and handling systems.
- Software Engineering: Develop embedded software and control algorithms for robotic systems and drone communication interfaces.
- Prototyping & Testing: Build and test proof-of-concept systems, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance for real-world deployment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external partners, including Altitude Angel and MarchantCain, to develop seamless automated solutions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure systems comply with aerospace and healthcare logistics regulations.
- Data & Performance Analysis: Implement monitoring solutions for real-time tracking and system optimization.
- Software Development: Support Skyfarer’s proprietary software development activity, contributing to various software engineering tasks beyond the ESA project.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain technical documentation, system architecture designs, and contribute to project progress reports.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience in robotics, automation, or autonomous systems development.
- Strong software development skills in Python, C++, or ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller programming.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical system design, including actuators, sensors, and motion control.
- Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and hardware integration.
- Understanding of computer vision, AI, or machine learning for automation applications is a plus.
- Experience with cloud-based IoT platforms, data logging, and analytics is desirable.
- Ability to work independently, solve complex technical challenges, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
