Main duties of the job

In this role you will support teams in Norwich and provide a high-quality service to students (and their families) experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

This will be done through the supervision of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), and through direct delivery of evidence-based interventions to support the recovery of young people referred to the service, utilising skills and knowledge of CBT and child and adolescent mental health practice, and knowledge of whole school approaches to mental health. This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards.

This is a unique opportunity to take on managerial and supervisory experience, whilst also engaging in important clinical work within schools and colleges.

The post would ideally be suited to a clinician looking to broaden their professional skillset, whilst being part of a national initiative to increase the numbers of children, young people and their families supported within an early intervention mental health service.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent e.g. Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, accredited CBT Therapist, qualification in systemic family therapy, qualification in child and adolescent psychotherapy, Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapy and social worker
  • Appropriate and valid UK professional registration. This could be in psychology, systemic family therapy, psychotherapy , teaching, social work, nursing, occupational therapist or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field

Desirable

  • Post Graduate clinical supervision training/qualification (e.g. CYP IAPT)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of work with children and/or adolescents with mild to moderate mental health problems.
  • Experience of clinically supervising team members with their own clinical work, delivering evidence-based interventions to children and young people in groups and/or one to one settings.
  • Experience of working with and managing risk

Desirable

  • Experience of line managing staff
  • Experience of supporting young people in an educational setting and/or experience of working with schools, promoting a whole school approach to mental health
  • Experience of delivering psycho education workshops/training to professionals, young people and/or parents/carers.

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Ability to feedback and discuss cases within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate information on formulation, risk and intervention to staff from other disciplines.
