Job Summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 MRI Radiographer to support the expansion of our MRI services across the county.

  • 2 Siemens 1.5T MRI scanners
  • 1 Philips 1.5T MRI scanner

 

We provide a wide range of MRI examinations, including specialist services such as Cardiac, Paediatric and Breast MRI. The successful candidate will benefit from a rich and varied working environment across the 3 very individual sites.

We are seeking radiographers who can bring both experience and passion to our growing team. The following will be essential:

 

  • Minimum 2 years of dedicated MRI experience
  • Previous experience working within an NHS setting
  • Competency across a broad range of MRI examinations

 

Our current shift patterns include long days, short days and participation in the out-of-hours rota.

We aim to support a healthy worklife balance while maintaining excellent service provision.

 

Main duties of the job

  • Consistently produce high quality MRI imaging
  • Deliver excellent patient care , maintain high safety standards
  • Plan , prioritise and organise workload
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels
  • Adhere to infection control measures
  • Actively involved in departmental audit
  • Quality assurance, Quality improvement
  • Demonstrate effective communication with all staff and departments
  • Assist site lead to develop protocols and techniques
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures
  • Train others and supervise junior members of staff
  • contribute to extended day and out of hours rotas
  • Vet referrals according to Scheme of Work in operation
  • Contribute to learning by reporting incidents as per trust policy
  • Participate in the modality CPD programme

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma of the College of Radiographers or degree accepted for registration with the HCPC State registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Desirable

  • SOR IV injection certificate of competence
  • Relevant post graduate qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years comprehensive MRI experience
  • Experience of out of hours working
  • Experience in performing Quality Assurance
  • Experience in organising self and others, taking initiative and working without supervision
  • Committed to quality improvement
  • Experience in working in NHS setting

Desirable

  • Experience working in an acute hospital setting
  • Experience and awareness of change within Radiology
  • Experience in more specialist MRI imaging e.g. Cardiac MRI

Knowlege

Essential

  • To understand and demonstrate a working knowledge of MHRA guidelines pertaining to MRI.

Desirable

  • Good awareness of current National NHS priorities
  • Good awareness of GIRFT / NICE guidelines relevant to MRI
