We are delighted to offer a secondment opportunity to work within our MSK team in West Cumbria, offering a supportive and friendly environment.
Our team is a large MSK department situated along the Western edge of the Lake District. Our service is spread across departments offering a wide and varied opportunities to gain skills in the MSK field. An ability to travel across these sites is required. We have highly skilled physiotherapists working in each of these areas who will support you to achieve high standards of professional development.
The post is based in the MSK team, offering you the opportunity to work within a well-developed and supportive department in which we have a robust appraisal, preceptorship, clinical and management supervision provision.
You will need to be committed to working autonomously providing evidence based assessment, treatment and rehabilitation. You will manage a caseload where patients are referred from both Primary and Secondary care and include those from the wider MSK Pathway (including our First Contact Physiotherapists and Orthopaedic triage services). We support the education of physiotherapy students, as well as apprentices, and we would anticipate you would support with their development.

Main duties of the job
This post is a static MSK role providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients requiring MSK treatment and rehabilitation.
You will work within the IMSK team, consolidating and building upon undergraduate experience, clinical skills and knowledge through CPD, participation in a structured IST programme and self-directed learning.
You will contribute to continuous service improvement, monitoring and improving standards of MSK care in accordance with Regional, National and International guidelines.
You will work autonomously with a caseload of patients undertaking assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and providing appropriate advice, management and onward referral where required.
You will perform comprehensive physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations, physical conditions and multi-pathologies using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. This may include interpretation and analysis of clinical and information and investigations.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Recognised Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy.
- HCPC registered
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Knowledge
Essential
- Comprehensive undergraduate clinical placements.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development/Lifelong Learning Activities.
- Sound understanding of theory underpinning physiotherapy practice.
Desirable
- Relevant post graduate clinical experience
- Experience of Electronic Patient Record (EPR)
Skills & Aptitudes
Essential
- Demonstrate an understanding of evidence based clinical practice.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Continuing Professional Development.
Desirable
- Understanding of local and national “service drivers” for Physiotherapy
