Main duties of the job

  • Deliver care and treatment as delegated by qualified professionals, utilizing a range of technical skills.
  • Assist in providing care to private patients under the supervision of a registered midwife.
  • Facilitate care for newborn babies, support new mothers, and ensure safe clinical practices in both labour and postnatal wards.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in supporting the needs of mothers and babies.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of relevant childcare qualification or HCSW Level 3 Apprenticeship

Desirable

  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Lactation Consultant qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Previous postnatal ward experience
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of clinical role in the Nursery Setting within a hospital
  • Care of the newborn
  • Able to provide Infant Feeding support and advice

Desirable

  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of the role of the neonatal Nursery Nurse in the community setting

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Competent in computer/IT skills

Desirable

  • Teaching skills
  • Ability to work both as a team member and autonomously
