Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Nursing Associate, to work full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent role. This opportunity is within a multi-disciplinary team providing nutrition support at Barts Health NHS Trust.

This post covers providing clinical support and administrative support to a Team delivering care for complex artificial enteral and nutrition support as well as inpatient and home parenteral nutrition.

By integrating the four key aspects of clinical practice, service management, education and research, the post holder will assist the multidisciplinary team to further develop and monitor standards ofnutritional care.

The role demands the commitment to providing administrative and clinical support to patients, their families/carers and health professionals throughout the Trust. The successful applicant will work closely with the Adult Nutrition Support multidisciplinary team to ensure a high quality of care is delivered to patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as a support to the Nutrition Clinical Nurse Specialists. The role will involve assisting the CNS’s in the delivery of patient care. This work will combine working directly with patients both face to face on the wards and over the phone, staff training, stock ordering and control, liaising with other members of nutrition and dietetics, assisting the CNS’s with other non-clinical work e.g. administrative duties such as updating our databases . The job will require flexibility and involve both clinical and clerical duties as well as good team working and negotiation skills. The job is based at The Royal London Hospital site but the post holder will be required to travel to other sites on an as need basis.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
  • Higher National Diploma Level 5 – Nursing Associate
  • Nursing Associate registered with the NMC

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working with the public
  • Experience working with vulnerable people in Health Care

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understand and apply risk management
  • Understand legal responsibilities of the service and the associated code of conduct as well as clinical governance
  • Knowledge and understanding of the diverse communities in the area
